Today I’m not going to talk about real estate. I want to talk about something completely different, and that is Jiu-Jitsu.
People like to say Jiu-Jitsu is the new men’s hot yoga. You see celebrities and public figures like Ashton Kutcher, Ed O’Neill, Joe Rogan, and even Demi Lovato training. But there is something about this sport that goes way deeper than what you see online.
It is not just about learning how to defend yourself or staying in shape. What makes Jiu-Jitsu beautiful is the longevity and the profound life lessons you pick up along the way.
1. Life’s Chapters on the Mat
In the ten years I’ve been training, I have lived through a lot of chapters. I dated seriously, got engaged, married my wife Jennifer, bought our first home, then a second one, and now we have a kid. Every stage of life has somehow played out on those mats.

When I was 25, I could move faster, roll longer, and recover overnight (I still look 25, I know, but these days things feel different!). My priorities have changed. My responsibilities have grown. And my mindset has evolved too.

2. The Unfakeable Nature of Growth
That’s what Jiu-Jitsu truly teaches you. It humbles you. It reminds you that growth does not come from comfort. You learn to adapt, to be patient, and to stay consistent, even when things get hard.
You cannot fake progress on the mat. If your technique is flawed, you fail. If you panic, you lose. Just like you cannot fake growth in life or in business. You must show up, put in the work, and accept the slow, steady progress. The mats force you to confront your limitations directly, day after day.

3. We Are All Just Training
I wanted to share this because maybe you have something similar in your own life. A serious hobby or passion that keeps you grounded, pushes you to grow, and reminds you of who you are becoming.
Whether it’s fitness, faith, or something completely different, the underlying lessons are the same: consistency, humility, and adaptation.
We are all just training in different ways.
Would you agree?
