Why We Needed a Day at the SoJo Spa Club

Have you ever been to a Korean spa? If not, let me tell you about my recent experience. Jen and I spent an entire day at SoJo Spa Club in North Jersey, taking a much-needed break from our daily routines.

It was a rare opportunity to be fully present with Jen—just the two of us, no distractions, no baby—simply enjoying the moment. We soaked in various pools, lounged in hydrotherapy baths, and explored the many relaxation areas.

The Main Event: The Korean Body Scrub

While Jen opted for a relaxing massage, I went for the famous Korean body scrub.

If you’ve never heard of it, this is an intense but incredibly refreshing full-body exfoliation treatment that leaves your skin unbelievably smooth. The goal is to vigorously slough off dead skin cells, and trust me, they are vigorous. (Conan O’Brien hilariously documented his own experience here, which will give you a good idea of what it’s like!)

Beyond the Scrub: The Full Spa Experience

The spa itself was impressive, featuring multiple amenities designed for deep relaxation:

  • Sauna Rooms: We spent time in the infrared, Himalayan salt, and charcoal saunas, all designed to promote detoxification.
  • Thermal Pools: Perfect for soaking and hydrotherapy.
  • Relaxation Areas: Designated quiet zones for reading and stillness.

We even enjoyed a quiet, peaceful meal on-site, rounding out the perfect self-care day.

The Takeaway: Disconnecting to Recharge

If you ever need a day to unwind, recharge, and disconnect from the outside world, I highly recommend checking out a Korean spa. It’s an intense but transformative experience worth having, and trust me, your body will thank you for it.
