So… I Got a Colonoscopy at the Age of 36

Let’s talk about something no one really preps you for—getting a colonoscopy in your 30s.

The day before the exam, you’re on an all-clear liquid diet, which basically means you’re fasting. Then comes the real fun—the laxative. And when I say it clears you out, I mean completely. I was on and off the toilet from 6 PM to 4 AM.

The exam itself? They put you under, and I was out like a light. Honestly, it felt like the best nap ever. I’ve had heavier anesthesia before—the kind that leaves you groggy and nauseous—but this wasn’t as bad. A couple of hours later, I was home, still in one piece.

It’s one of those things no one looks forward to, and to be honest, I was pretty nervous at first. But it was nice that my father-in-law had done it a week or two before me—I was glad to get his help (and a little heads-up on what to expect) lol.
